Fall 2007 ConventionScores Are Here!FRIDAY NIGHT AUDIENCE FAVORITES - A Big SuccessBy Trep Treptow, Director of Contest & Judging What was intended to be an experiment to get the audience more involved turned out to be a heck of a lot of fun for everyone, with many requests to hold this event again in the future. As soon as the awards were made for the Audience’s Favorite tenor, lead, bari, and bass, the audience began calling out for the four of them to sing together. Eventually, all of the Audience Favorites winners sang a tag to conclude the first ever presentation of Cardinal District’s “Friday Night Audience Favorite” awards. Approximately 150 members of the Friday night audience cast votes in eight categories for their favorite Lead, Tenor, Bari, Bass, Up-tune, Ballad, Swing Tune and Performing Attire. The individuals or quartets receiving 20 or more votes as the Audience Favorite were given “Honorable Mention.” Audience Favorite Tenor: Jeremy Conover – Half-Ton Pickup Audience Favorite Lead: Logan Horn – The Edge Audience Favorite Bari: James Pennington – Southern Spark Audience Favorite Bass: Adam Wheeley – Past ‘N’ Present Audience Favorite Uptune: Southern Spark – Hey, Good Lookin’ Audience Favorite Ballad: Past ‘N’ Present – If I Had My Way Audience Favorite Swing Tune: Past ‘N’ Present –Love Me Audience Favorite Performing Attire: Southern Spark Winners each received a “cardinal” red baseball cap embroidered with “Audience Favorite,” a certificate, and unlimited bragging rights, including the opportunity to make themselves impossible to live with at quartet rehearsals for the next two months. We hope to repeat some version of this event at future contests.
